Whose limp, lifeless body has been found drowned in the loch, and how did it get there? We all have secrets, and the privileged aristocratic families living in the Scottish highland village of Strathcroy are no exception.

The outrageously wild and exotic Pandora disappeared from the village twenty years ago under a cloud of suspicion. She is returning at the invitation of Verena Steynton who is having a dance for her daughter, and wants simply everyone to be there - whatever the consequences.....

Lord Archie Balmerino, Pandora’s adoring brother, blames himself for her sudden departure. Silence at all costs to protect the family has prevented her secret from ever being explained. Edmund Aird, handsome entrepreneur, was a childhood friend of Archie’s. They share Pandora’s secret, which turns them into silent enemies. Virginia, Edmund’s beautiful American wife, is drifting away from her authoritarian husband. She seeks solace in a childhood friend of her own, further endangering the delicate balance of their teetering marriage.

It is only Vi, Edmund’s mother, who really understands why Pandora poses such a threat on her home-coming. This charming, spoilt and ravishing creature, out of sight and mind for two decades, puts their ordered lives in jeopardy once more – and Vi will do anything to protect the happiness of her family.

After all, with the manipulative Pandora back in Strathcroy, who is to know what her secret motives are, what secrets may be revealed, and how deadly the consequences could be …?
