When Sarah, a crippled New York actress, telephones Joe, an agoraphobic writer living in London, he finds his life radically changed. Sarah wants to perform Joe’s only hit play in an off-Broadway production and the two become strong friends over the transatlantic telephone discussing
the production.

When Sarah, determined to overcome her handicap, arrives in London to meet him for the first time, Joe’s terror almost destroys their developing love affair completely. However, the two are able to survive their problems with comic relief and reach greater understanding.
