Loveday’s marriage to Walter is failing. Without intimacy, Walter cannot understand his wife’s obsession with Nancherrow and is drawn to Nesta, a Londoner in love with Cornwall. In
London, Diana’s social life is reaching new heights. Meanwhile,
Loveday finds Gus in an art gallery run by the gorgeous Alex Gower and
before they know what’s happening, they are in his bed making love.

Returning to Nancherrow her marriage to Walter soon ends in divorce and Gus joins her at Nancherrow. Walter opens a successful business on the estate. To maintain Nancherrow, Loveday and Diana open the house to the public. It is a great success.

Then Nat is struck down with polio, his anxious parents Loveday and Walter put their petty quarrels behind them and Jeremy’s medical expertise saves him. Loveday eventually learns of Edgar’s dying wish - that he wanted rid of Nancherrow and, sadly, she decides to sell. A surprise buyer provides a happy ending, heralded by wedding bells for Gus and Loveday. |
