Legal Deceit Thriller   »       «

Sydney Banks is a bright young lawyer with one of LA’s top firms, but the 90s have put a serious hold on her lifestyle. The recession is hitting hard and every day in the office could be her last. Sydney’s best friend Darryl has finally cracked – holding up the firm’s managing partner at gunpoint – and to make matters worse, her lover Derek has walked out.

Still recovering from the day’s events, Sydney finds a kindred spirit in Todd Hunter, a stranger she meets in a restaurant.

Todd argues that the only way to get ahead is through networking, and, to prove his point, he introduces her to Charles Kline, the undergarment tycoon. When Sydney returns to work the next day, Charles Kline has become her client.

An even bigger surprise is that Todd had joined the firm – with a plan to turn around all their fortunes, but it isn’t long before Sydney discovers his secret – blackmail. When Sydney confronts him, Todd tells her that the rules have changed and it takes more than hard work to stay on top.

Then Sydney makes her most chilling discovery. Todd has not only changed his identity, but has also left a trail of blackmail and murder in New York. As she struggles to extricate herself from his corrupt schemes, Sydney finds herself increasingly drawn into a crazy spiral that leads to extortion and, ultimately, to murder. Now she must outwit Todd in a race to bring her findings to the police – before he can silence her forever.
