Doc Martin and the Legend of the Cloutie Comedy   »       «

Doctor Bamford has had enough of village life and is desperate for some distance from inquisitive Cornish neighbours. When the local estate agent shows him Tregunnt Farm – derelict and miles from anywhere – it’s love at first sight. But the Bowden family from London also have their eye on the property with a view to developing the surrounding land into ugly
holiday cottages.

After being gazumped, the Doc decides to try and spook the family into leaving by pretending to be the Beast of Bodmin.

When he is nearly caught, the Doc decides to change tactics and reluctantly tries out some old Cornish witchcraft but is warned that the caster of the spell must beware: what you wish for will come back at you threefold.

Meanwhile two Customs agents, Lester Higgins and Jimmy Dobbs arrive in the village to investigate suspected local smugglers.

When the real Beast of Bodmin appears and a national newspaper announces a reward for its capture, the Doc now has even more to worry about, fearing he and his cloutie are the cause of all this mayhem.

Then Charley, the barman and neighbour at Tregunnt, confesses to the Doc that he helped his brother smuggle three Africans, in search of a better life, into England. Now the Doc can save the day by helping the Africans to escape, finally proving to the village his worthiness as an honorary Cornishman.

And yet there is still the problem of the house….
