| When successful but unhappy obstetrician/gynaecologist Doctor Martin Bamford discovers his wife, Petronella has been sleeping with three of his friends, his world is ripped apart. The Doc flees London and heads for a small fishing village of Port Isaac, on the north coast of Cornwall in the hope that it might help solve all the big questions in his life or his wife will turn up and save their marriage. As she doesn’t, he stays, getting duped into working as a deck hand on the lobster boat Sharimar, skippered by local fisherman Harvey. |
|
The Doc’s arrival coincides with a
spate of attacks on key members of the community by a phantom jelly-maker.
|
The village busy-body, Miss Justine Walker points the finger of blame
at the Doc and his new friend, Rita Gorrie , the barmaid at the local
pub. The two have become close ever since the Doc solved a medical problem
concerning her only son, which the local GP Dr Cadbury had completely
failed to diagnose. Justine plots to expose the pair. |
|
He decides to stay in the village, put his life in London on hold, and
rather romantically offers to buy a share in Harvey’s lobster boat.
